Good news at last from the BBC: Secret evidence which might have been obtained by torture cannot be used against terror suspects in UK courts, the law lords have ruled.
I would have thought that this is the default everywhere in the civilized world? What’s new is that this seems to be directly linked to the USA:
- They argued evidence obtained in US detention camps should be excluded from court hearings.
There’s also a box on that page with the same message I’ve been quoting from Cassandra by Christa Wolf:
- We are at war with terror but that is no reason to become what we are fighting – Matthew Iles, Ashford, UK
