2011-07-17 Vocabulary size

Hm… “Your total vocabulary size is estimated to be: 28,500 words.” Is that good or bad? “Most adults fall in the range 20,000–35,000, with the exact median score being 27,123 words.”

That goes to show that most people (me included) think they’re above average, haha. Pride comes before the fall.

Then again, 27,123 is the median for native speakers, if I remember their detailed page correctly.

By the way, for readers of fantastic literature, my pièce de résitance is Steve Erickson’s series starting with Gardens of the Moon. That was the first time I was relieved when switching to the German translation.

I actually noticed a lot of words I learnt from D&D. Including bugbear. :)
