2018-12-21 When to roll

I was looking through my Google+ archive, trying to find posts to archive on this blog, when I happened upon a link to a blog post by Courtney Campbell: On Skill Deconstruction: Why Roll for Resolution? And I started reading again. So good!

– Courtney Campbell

Courtney was picking up on a comment by Zak Sabbath on Noism’s blog post What Am I Thinking? That blog post is about puzzles and it has 126 comments! That’s how great the RPG blogs were back then. Zak points to his own post from 2010, Here's Some Advanced RPG Theory For You. That’s where he says:

  1. The ones where you have to do things fast, and...
  2. The ones where a partial result means something.

– Zak Sabbath

Still true today!
