Twenty two years ago, Claudia and I started dating. It has been the most wonderful thing to happen to me in all my life. I’ve become a better person, a happier person, a more responsible person, a more caring person, … the changes are innumerable. In fact, it’s probably impossible to say which of these positive changes have come about due to our relationship and which of these changes would have happened anyway, simply because of growing older and hopefully somewhat wiser. And yet, the great joy is having shared it all, having grown up together, adapting to each other, learning from each other, and now this stranger has become part of my life, and more. We are to each others like extensions of our body. Two hearts, as one.✎
Twenty years ago I kissed my wife Claudia for the first time. Best decision ever.
I started going out with my SweetHeart seventeen years ago.
Somehow the date that Claudia and I decided to go out with each other is more important than the day we got married. Then again, I have only been married since 2007-11-24 where as I’ve been going out with Claudia since 1992-03-10…
13 years with Claudia… To think that I was 18 at the time, and she was 17. We were different… It’s a miracle we were able to grow together as we did.
I don’t know anybody who seems as happy as the two of us together. There’s interesting talk, growth (“building of character”), caring, smooching, jokes, food, walking through town, dancing, never a fight, non-verbal understanding, a battle of wits – happy together!
The question I hear most often from friends and family is why aren’t we married, yet. The answer is simple: Why? There is some financial benefit for Claudia in it, and that’s why I suggested it to her a few times, but this is not a romantic reason, and somehow it is not good enough. We should look into registering, however… We do plan to stay together as long as we can, hoping for health, happiness, and being in love together – but you never know. We intend to try and save our relationship, should it show signs of wear and tear – but we don’t believe in trying extra hard just because we’re married. We’ll try extra hard even when not married!✎
